Attachment disorder is a condition in which infants and young children fail to establish healthy bonds with parents and/or caregivers. A child with attachment issues could have a history of neglect, abuse, orphaned, etc. Reactive Attachment Disorder develops when a child’s basic need for comfort, affection and nurturing are not met. RAD can permanently change a child’s development and personality which could impair his/her ability to establish future healthy relationships. Psychological intervention for an individual suffering from attachment disorders should be started as soon as possible to boost self-esteem, improve peer relationships and to help develop positive interactions with parents and caregivers.
